We at the Tortuga believe that a hostel can only be as good as its employees. We are proud of our staff who have been loyal to us for several years now.
Manager Eleanor makes sure that all the factors that make the Tortuga tick are in sync. Not always an easy task – yet you won’t  ever see her lose her poise.
Our receptionist Carolina is also in charge of interior design. Quiet at first, she warms up quickly and smiles often.
Zayda works days in charge of cleaning and the pancake recipe.
Maria Elena is our second specialist in cleanliness matters. When something breaks or doesn’t work properly, she’s always the first to notice. You’ll hardly ever see her without a smile on her face.
Receptionist René is our latest arrival. Give him a minute or two and he’ll get going and turn into an almost inexhaustible source of information.
Last but not least, Erick, our night receptionist will make sure guests are taken care of 24/7. A trained biologist, Erick is fascinated with everything that creeps and flies.

La tortuga booluda is a great hostel!!! Just a 3-5 min walk to the main square, clean rooms with plenty of fans, a fully equipped kitchen & nearby supermarkets, pool table, free pancakes for breakfast & coffee all day, plenty of hammocks & the most helpful staff you could ask for!
Everything you want/expect in a good hostel: bright pleasant rooms, fun lounge areas, clean amazing kitchen, free internet, book exchange, activities, helpful staff.
I've stayed at a lot of hostels, and this place has it figured out. Quiet but social at the same time. A great place to relax and read or enjoy a beer or coffee with the other guests. Safe, clean, and secure. Friendly and helpful staff, and very convenient to central Leon.
I cannot say enough about the wonderful experience I had staying at the Tortuga Booluda. This hostel is perfect for travelers who want to have a relaxed and easy-going place to hang out at during the day and to come home to at the end of the day.
What can I say? It's a beautiful hostal. Clean, professional and it doesn't hurt that it comes with a million options 😉
